While I usually used Break for offense here I needed it for defense as it’d reset his super mode and he’d have to set up again. If two turns were difficult to keep up with I knew I couldn’t allow him to get six. I look at the turn order and see…he’s scheduled to get six turns next round. Then after one Break recovery he shifted into a super mode, another trick many bosses had. Miguel, like many bosses, would shift his weaknesses after recovering from Break. It was a good challenge to keep up with his attacks. Miguel gets two turns a round though I never saw him use Cross Spear twice, thank goodness. More threatening is Cross Spear which hits the whole party twice with each hit being high damage on its own. Miguel’s main trick was physical attacks. Miguel was the first Chapter 3 boss I had. #OctopathTraveler #NintendoSwitch /o0Dlx4TcFz The Chapter 3 bosses had some difficult ones. Don’t get me wrong, their sprites are cool and the format of this game makes most bosses important story-wise as opposed to the “we needed a boss here so here you go.” But gameplay wise the pattern was pretty similar: beginning of the fight analyze the enemies to find their weaknesses, eliminate minions, then Break the boss and unleash hell. I haven’t written much about bosses and part of that is that they’ve all been easy up to this point. I also could give a good boost to defense and physical attack. I could hand out resistance to specific elements and immunities to specific ailments. Meanwhile, I gathered a good helping of accessories. I’d have a couple good swords, spears, even daggers, but my strongest bow lagged far behind for a while.

As I went through the Chapter 3’s the bosses dropped good weapons so that I had weapons comparable to the Graviton among all the weapon types…except poor bows. The Staff of Wonders gave a good elemental attack boost for my casters.

It cost over half the money I had but it was well worth it: it was a massive offensive upgrade and it was the best weapon I had until late in the Chapter 3’s when Chapter 3 bosses were dropping weapons. It was for sale in Stillsnow, the first Chapter 2 town I went to. They both had good defenses that lasted a while and with their high Evasion enemies had could barely land a hit in the Chapter 2’s and then slowly caught up in the Chapter 3’s.įor weapons it all began with the Graviton Axe. I had the Snowy Cape from Stillsnow for a while and then later an upgrade in the Silent Cape. I forgot to mention in Chapter 2 but I went heavy Evasion with my gear. I wonder if it’s element based I had Tressa’s elemental attack low when I used it. I’ve used this once and it was garbage on both fronts. Merchant – Bifelgan’s Bounty – Single target attack and you get money equal to damage dealt.Olberic shouts, “I wreak havoc upon thee!!!” User slashes their sword and an energy wave hits the enemy while also tearing through the ground. Single target massive damage sword attack. Warrior – Brand’s Thunder – The boss killer.I haven’t used it much but it did help me through one bind I’ll describe in the next post. Dancer – Sealticge’s Seduction – For 3 turns skills used by target ally that usually affect one foe will hit all.I always underutilize items but I imagine if I tried to get this going it would be immensely helpful. Apothecary – Dohter’s Charity – For 3 turns items used by target ally affect the whole party.Thief – Aeber’s Reckoning – Attack all foes with a dagger, doing damage based on speed.Good for boss fights whether it be to clear the minions or just a strong attack on the boss. A huge energy arrow comes out from a portal and hits all foes. Hunter – Draefendi’s Rage – A very powerful bow attack on all enemies.

My favorite use is to put on Cyrus when the enemy is broken and have him unleash his best spells, now with double effectiveness. Cleric – Aelfric’s Auspices – For 3 turns skills cast by target ally activate twice, except Divine Skills.I’ve had him use it on other casters when the opportunity presents itself. Sort of natural for Cyrus to cast on himself but hard in practice: he would have to use a turn and 3 BP to do so and then somehow find some turns and BP to make it worth it.

Scholar – Alephan’s Enlightenment – For 3 turns spells cast by target ally that usually hit all enemies will instead hit one but be more powerful. Each one is also named after that job’s patron hero. They’re all very powerful to make up for it of course. Not only do they all cost 30 SP but you need to fully boost (using 3 BP) to use them. Each job’s final skill is a Divine Skill.
